She is a California native, clinical neuropsychologist, and research scientist, with a strong commitment to helping others understand the power of the brain/mind/body connection. She completed clinical training and internship in neuropsychology at Nicklaus Children’s Hospital, University of Miami Mailman Center, and Memorial Regional Hospital. Additionally, post-doctoral residency in neuropsychology was completed at the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine Department of Neurology. She is a licensed clinical neuropsychologist with areas of expertise in assessment of Children and adults with a variety of neurodevelopmental and neurological disease (i.e., Epilepsy, ADHD, Alzheimer’s disease, traumatic brain injury, Parkinson’s disease, ALS) and psychiatric illness.
Dr. Bermudez sees counseling interventions as great equalizers, and believes that psychology shouldn’t focus exclusively on “treatment.” Instead, evidence based psychological tools such as Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy can be used to build “Psychological Wellness,” preventative skills to help build resilience, optimize performance, and strengthen human connections. These tools that can help everyone learn about our individual strengths and weaknesses, make empowered choices, course correct when necessary, and help us lead fulfilling lives.
In addition to working individuals with neurologic conditions, terminal illnesses, and rare diseases, I am the founder of Global Wellness LLC, a consulting firm focused on expanding access to cognitive rehabilitation, counseling, and research to countries around the world where services are limited and may not take into account the unique perspectives and needs of multilingual and multicultural individuals seeking services.
